Boulder Hut co-founder, Sam Oxford, has been climbing for the past 10 years. She started putting plans in place to open Boulder Hut when she was being made redundant in 2012. Having had Jack in 2015 she realised the huge gap in the market for a climbing wall which caters for everyone from birth.
We've selected our Charities of Choice
Here at Boulder Hut we’re proud that we get to be a community hub. That means providing a space for families to share but it also means that we are committed to giving back.
Today, we wanted to share our chosen charities with you. We hope that you think they are great choices.
Climbers Against Cancer aims to increase awareness and raise funds for research to fight cancer. All proceeds are donated directly to cancer research facilities. Fundraising events have taken place worldwide and we’re very happy to be adding to those funds. We are starting by donating £1000 to become an official partner of CAC and will support them with events throughout the year.
Share supports families in crisis and people who are homeless in North Wales and Cheshire. They also assist refugees, wherever they are in the world. In September 2015, four local mums decided that they need to do something to make a difference to the lives of refugees and they joined forces with a Chester based businessman and Share was born. They use donations to get essentials to those in refugee camps and to raise funds for the charity in their Share Shop. We will be donating 50p to Share for every re-usable coffee cup used.
Mummy’s Star is a charity dedicated to supporting women and their families affected by cancer during pregnancy or within 12 months after giving birth. Pete founded Mummy’s Star in 2013 in memory of his wife Mair, who died when their second child was just two months old. The charity aims to support pregnancy through and beyond cancer. To help support Mummy’s Star, we’ll be donating 50p from the sale of Boulder Play and Boulder Zoo admissions to Mummy’s Star.
We can’t wait to start supporting these charities when we open. We’ll keep you updated on how we’re working together, but please get in touch if you have any questions about them.
